Nove artisti per “Napoli milionaria”

On Wednesday, 21st July 2009 at 18.30 in the Palazzo Ducale of Martina Franca, Italy, there will be the opening of the exhibition Nove artisti per “Napoli milionaria”.

The exhibition, curated by Lia De Venus and Fabrizio Vona and organized in conjunction with the 36th edition of the Music Festival of Valle d’Itria, a prestigious musical event known around the world, will host within the courtyard of the Ducal Palace the works of nine Italian and foreign artists – Ennio Bertrand, Bianco-Valente, Filippo Centenari, CONIGLIOVIOLA Group, Raffaele Fiorella, Raffaela Mariniello, Ottonella Mocellin-Nicola Pellegrini, Anila Rubiku, Tarshito – whose works draw inspiration from a comedy written by Eduardo De Filippo wrote in 1945. In 1977 Eduardo also wrote the libretto of an opera in three acts by the same title, with music from maestro Nino Rota, who was represented in that year at the Spoleto Festival. It is with this aria that this year’s Festival of the Valley Itria will open.

The artworks will be exhibited in the first floor rooms of the palace, decorated with tempera paintings created by artist Martina Dominic Carella in 1776, recently restored.

Speakers at the inauguration will include the Councillor for Mediterranean Culture and Tourism Dr Silvia Godelli, the Regional Director for the Cultural and Heritage of Puglia Dr Ruggero Martines, the curators of the exhibition Fabrizio Vona, Superintendent for the Historical and Anthropological Heritage of Puglia, and Dr Lia de Venere, Art Critic.

The exhibition runs from 21/07/2010 – 31/08/2010
