Workshop – Lighting Design for cultural heritage, LED and new technologies – 3rd edition

The course, realized thanks to the contribution of PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING and MEGAMAN and patronized by AIDI is addressed to professional/graduated technicians and not graduated workers that want to specialize in the field of lighting for cultural heritage.
The workshop aims to deepen and develop the theme of lighting for cultural heritage looking upon the variety of places where exposures take place, with the help of practical experimentation on an existing museum set up, used as field of intervention. The course is composed by two didactic modules that can be attended singularly.

1) LED and new technology for Cultural Heritage (8 hours)
- Lighting Design for Cultural Heritage: fundamentals
- LED and new technologies possibilities for cultural heritage
- Costs, energy saving and sustainability of LED and new technologies for Cultural Heritage.
2) Design Workshop (32 hours)
- Lighting for Cultural Heritage is today one of the most complex and challenging fieds for the lighting designer due to the variety of objective that the planning must pursue.
The preservation and conservation of the good, with particular awarness for the works of art, are the main bonds, defined by specific technical norms. At the same time, there is the necessity to show the work of art, the monument the object or the archeological find, in the correct way from a visual, perceptive and cognitive point of view.
The design workshop aims to deepen and develop thematic on lighting for cultural heritage considering all of the variety of places in which the exhibitions take place, with the help of practical experimentation in a museum assumed as field of intervention.
In the project work basic notions of lighting design (needed to apply to the course) are required.
